Thank you for your interest in our scuba programs. To the left you will find links to various pages on our website. These links will provide information on our Scuba Instructors, beginning Open Water Diver Class, Open Water Class dates, Snorkeling, Advanced Classes, Refresher classes and our Course Applications. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to open the applications. Page 1 is the application, pages 2 & 3 are the medical history statement and Physician’s release. If all of your answers are a NO on the history statement, then you do not need to complete the Physician’s release. If you answers a Yes on the history statement, then you will need to have a Physician sign the release before we can start your in water work. Forms can be mailed to Aqua Ventures with a deposit to hold your space in class, faxed to us at 410-666-1892 with your charge card info or brought in to our store at 9731 York Road. Please remember that many of our programs have course materials that may need to be read before class starts. - Shopping around for a scuba class that
is right for you?
Here are some questions you should ask.:
|
1.How large
is the class and what is the instructor to student ratio?
Aqua Ventures' classes are small ( averaging 8-10 students, max.12
). Any class with more than 6 students will have 1 or 2 certified,
experienced assistant instructors helping with the pool and open
water dives. With an instructor to student ratio of 1:4, we can
provide lots of personalized attention.
2. How experienced
are the instructors and assistant instructors?
A good instructor who is patient,
up to date and skilled at teaching will make your scuba course
a fun and safe experience. Our staff is comprised of highly trained,
knowledgeable and patient professionals who will show you how
to be relaxed and comfortable with your newly acquired skills.
See our Meet our Instructors & Staff
page.
3.What is
the type and the quality of the equipment you will train with?
Our training and rental equipment
(Suunto and AquaLung) is a selection of the very best,
well maintained equipment available. This will ensure your enjoyment
and safety while providing an opportunity to try different styles
before you purchase them. See our Equipment
Rentals page. Also, we use pure compressed air (Grade E)
for breathing which is tested regularly to ensure it' s quality.

4.What will
your learning experience be like?
Our course is the most unique
and complete in the area. We incorporate the training video into
the home study part of your course instead of the classroom.
This allows more time for the instructor to spend with you in
the classroom and makes your home study work easier. Pool skills
will be presented in an organized, step by step manor first in
the shallow end and then in the deep end. Lots of practice time
will be available so that the skills will become second nature
to you. Your open water evaluation can then be completed either
locally or through our universal student referral program at
another dive destination throughout the world. Your scuba certification
will then be issued through S.S.I. (Scuba Schools International)
so you will receive World Wide recognition. Also, Aqua Ventures'
open water course not only meets, but exceeds the minimum requirements
of the W.R.S.T.C. (World Recreational Scuba Training Council). Finally,
we are flexible enough in our program to allow for problems with
difficult work schedules, just let us know when you sign up.
5. What
if any continuing education classes are available to you after
finishing your beginning scuba class?
We offer a large variety of specialty courses to continue where
the beginning open water class ends so you can you reach the
level of training you desire. Courses such as Boat Diver, Night
Diver, Navigation, Adv. Buoyancy Control, Dry Suit Diver, Wreck
Diver, Deep Diver, Nitrox Diver, Marine Life Awareness, Equipment
Maintenance, Underwater Photographer, Cavern & Cave Diver,
Underwater Hunter, and Stress & Rescue Diver are available.
See our Advanced & Specialty Courses
page.
6. What
if any kind of activities are available after you finishing your
beginning scuba class?
To keep you having fun, we offer
trips and activities year round for all levels of diving from
beginner to advanced. These trips vary from local to exotic and
one day to one week with everyone welcome to attend. See our
Local Activities or Travel
Vacations page. Our past students are also welcome to join
us during our pool sessions if they would like to practice during
the winter or before their next big trip.
